Denk Engineering is the world’s most experienced independent design office in the cycling industry. We have set numerous benchmarks and our designs have achieved trailblazing milestones in full suspension, composite technology and lightweight design. Our innovations have become state-of-the-art and pioneers for an entire industry.
Denk Engineering offers unique service: we accompany our customers in their visions of making innovative, fast and beautiful bikes a reality with our customized chain of services that extends from research, through development, to serial production. We have shaped our customers’ success over the long term and pushed the limits with the bikes we have developed.
Thanks to the special expertise of our engineers in the development of innovative full-suspension systems we have been able to, and still can, further develop the most varied of revolutionary types of bike. Our team is considered the most experienced in the sector and our designs for suspension and shock systems meet the very highest demands.
We are proud to be the leading specialists in the field of carbon technology. After a long period in Asia, Peter Denk, the founder and Managing Director of Denk Engineering, was one of the first to use the material successfully in series-enabled frame construction. Since then, the success story of Denk Engineering has been closely linked with this light and stable material. We work with proven experts because we know that perfect processing of the material is highly complex and demanding. Our company has excellent contacts in Asia, where we have had long-term stable collaborations with the most experienced carbon producers and processors for many years. We can therefore always guarantee optimum materials and smooth process chains.
Our work and our aim is to perfectly implement our customers’ wishes. We not only develop inspirational technologies and pioneering products, but also complete them on time and market-enabled. Despite all the passion for bikes and enthusiasm for unique technical innovations we do not lose sight of one thing: the needs of our customers and those of the bikers who enthusiastically use their products.
Peter Denk is an adventurer, inventor and lateral thinker. When he is not in the laboratory or at the computer perfecting the technical details of his designs, he is in the saddle of his Specialized Demo 8 Carbon combining two of his great passions: innovative carbon technology and rapid downhills.
Thomas Fuderer’s heart beats for optimizing processes in such detail that they function perfectly smoothly. The perfectionist’s heart beats even faster only when he is conquering the steep Black Forest roads of his homeland with his Specialized S-Works Roubaix.
We want our innovations to ensure that bikers can concentrate on what is important while they are cycling: the geometry must be right, the material must be reliable, and the technology must function perfectly and smoothly. The biker should feel good, experience flow, and be able to trust their sports equipment blindly.
For us it is important to absorb our customers’ visions and ideas, think them through, and implement them in line with the market and on time with perfect engineering. Our central concern here is that our processes function just as reliably as our bikes. This creates freedom – for new thinking and new ideas, without which it would be impossible to achieve the technical innovations of the day after tomorrow.
Last but not least, we want to give our ideas free rein. Our work is customer- and market-oriented, but sometimes the best and most innovative ideas come when our thinking breaks new ground, is lateral, and includes the impossible as an option. Biking with friends, experiencing flow, and learning our limits will always remain a source of inspiration for us.
We are pleased to live in a place and time where we have the possibility and the freedom to not only concern ourselves with our own wellbeing but also with that of others. With the awareness that every step in this direction is a step along the right path, we are mainly involved in three areas.
In our hometown of Freiburg we have been supporting the Verein Mountainbike Freiburg e.V. (Freiburg Mountain Bike Club) since its founding in 2011. At the time, the aim was to ensure the existence of the well-known Borderline Trail. The club now has more than 800 members. Denk Engineering financed the construction of a second Freiburg mountain bike trail in 2015: the Canadian, named after its four Canadian trail-building experts. The trail is still responsible for putting big smiles on the faces of bikers.
There have been even more smiles since 2016 because the trail fun around our hometown has increased even further with the third Freiburg trail, Badish Moon Rising, opened in 2016 and also financed with help from Denk Engineering.
The club by no means only supports trails, however. It also offers a wide-ranging program for children and youths, organizes a bike festival, and is committed to a variety of bicycle activities in aid of refugees. We are pleased to be able to support such dedication directly in the locality.
As entrepreneurs we must – and want to – take responsibility: for our products, for our production processes, and for all our employees worldwide.
This is why we promote the fair payment and treatment of employees at our cooperating production facilities in the Far East and in Europe. We are not only committed to producing long-lived products, but also strive for the efficient use of raw materials and resources, and seek upcycling and recycling methods for leftover materials. In particular, we are greatly concerned with protecting the most important resource: water. This only leaves our production sites after complete treatment.
We set up think tanks with other companies in the bike sector in order to optimize our processes regarding sustainable ways to do business. We have thus also been able to achieve great social and ecological progress with a far-reaching network.
One small contribution: we implement environmental protection with, for example, our energy-efficient company building with CO2-neutral wood pellet heating. In addition, we try to reduce business trips by means of video conferencing. We will continue to work on manufacturing the products of our customers even more sustainably – both locally and worldwide.
Denk Engineering has been supporting the organization Médecin sans Frontières for about ten years now. Among the many aid organizations that perform excellent work worthy of support, the commitment of Médecin sans Frontières is particularly impressive: without religious, ideological or political interests, the organization provides emergency medical aid wherever epidemics, wars or natural catastrophes threaten human life.
In many places, the facilities operated by Médecin sans Frontières are the only access to medical care, vaccinations, medicines and clean water. Whereby the organization also enjoys enormously high acceptance in politically contested areas: this is undoubtedly because Médecin sans Frontières collaborates with locals in international teams, and has no religious or political background. Médecin sans Frontières was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1999 for its commitment.
We are grateful for the help that Médecin sans Frontières provides in crisis regions and hope for committed and long-term sponsorship of the organization by numerous supporters worldwide.
